Thanks for this Jake. Having a student placement as a key member of any university change project team is a win/win for all concerned. They win because they gain work experience and a set of transferable skills - we win because we are able to really put the student voice at the heart of what we are doing to improve the student experience rather than just pay lip service to the notion.

John
I agree with your comments on the Impact Analysis, and I think that's a general thought across the projects. However, we are where we are, and I'm picking this up with each project over the next few weeks. I'll be in touch shortly to sort out some dates. I'm expecting to be able to gather, collect, collate, and so on, as a direct help to the projects, rather than asking projects to do the impact analysis by themselves. I'm aiming for a dialogue with each project, so that you can point me in the direction of the evidence (or send me it in fairly raw form).

I hope this will help reduce any pain!

>I do have to admit that Raegan’s comments in the last blog are mostly true – she did indeed deliver to camera, all in one take – but it was less of a “rattle” and more of a super smooth, polished delivery!

Somehow I thought it would be :-).

I think this is an excellent example of how a JISC project has had to adjust itself as the external situation has developed, particularly in the light of how student perceptions have changed, not just our perspective on that part of reality. In this case it is leading to additional unforeseen benefits, which might be more significant in the long run than the original projections. It's very encouraging to see potential information sharing even more widely than originally envisaged. Maybe there's potential links into other open data, data.gov.uk, and so on.

Hi. Great to hear that you're doing data visualisation. Have you seen Tony Hirst's blog? He's a researcher at the OU and has done a great deal of stuff on data visualisation. You might well pick up some ideas from that quarter.

This sounds great! I'm looking forward to seeing the real shoot. And your analysis of the data.

Having just done the XCRI-CAP 5 minute video, I appreciate the problems. Our's was just a few voices over some swirly graphics and that was hard enough.

Having seen the original time lapse sequence for the service design video which was fab, I am certainly interested to see the imax version! We are also plannng other videos - I'm now a little nervous about one considering the project overall and the sector wide views. Children or animals might be better on screen than me...
Karina's insight into the issues around harmonising data also reminded me that in the JISC webinar earlier this week it was clear that data protection is a concern for all the projects. Continuum have addressed some of these by looking into separate hard drives so that data from external sources are not held on the university's server - I wonder how other people have tackled similar issues?
